If you're a Gmail user like me, there's a cool new feature that became available today. When composing a new message in Gmail, you now have the ability to star or add a label to that message before sending. This is very useful for important followups or for emails you send to people who have a habit of not sending timely responses. As a general practice, I used to bcc myself so I could keep a copy of that message in my Inbox as a reminder. Now it's as easy as creating a label named "Follow Up" and simply tagging that to an email before sending.
